Vendor-Managed Inventory for Strategic Advantage
Speaker: George
J. Miller, President
PROACTION Management Consultants
"Vendors
that survive the ongoing shakeout will do so because
they offer what customers need and what competitors
can’t match. Assuming that the primary products
and pricing are competitive, service becomes the next
big battleground. Traditionally, customers have forecasted
demand, planned supply orders, managed logistics for,
received, stored and accounted for materials. Much
of this can also be done by suppliers, often better,
cheaper and faster. This is a case study about a successful
customer/vendor partnership to do just that. Service
rose from the 70’s to 100%, inventory turns
doubled, administrative procedures were streamlined,
and shipping costs halved. Download paper from www.proaction.net.
