Commodity Manager for Hewlett-Packard
With
the ever-increasing practice by U.S. businesses to
outsource work, finding the correct supplier requires
attention to detail. Picking the wrong supplier may
end up being a buyer’s worst nightmare. George
will present methods that can be used to minimize
the risk of selecting the wrong supplier by asking
the right questions. Along with picking the correct
supplier up front, on-going supplier evaluations are
just as important. George will present information
on annual supplier audits to ensure the supply base
remains solid.
Speaker Biography:
George
H. Overman C.P.M. is a Commodity Manager for the Hewlett-Packard
Company (HP). During his 35+ years at HP, George worked
in several areas of operations including manufacturing,
production control, planning, and purchasing. The
past 22 years have been in the purchasing function.
His duties include locating new suppliers and evaluating
existing suppliers to meet the business needs of HP.
George holds a BA from University of Phoenix and a
MBA from California State University San Marcos. Along
with his HP position, George teaches courses in Project
Management, TQM Principles, Supply Chain Management,
and Operations Management at different Universities
in the San Diego area. George and his wife LachmiBai
live in Oceanside.
