Antitrust Laws and Cases:
Are Your Suppliers Following the Law?

Department of Justice
Ms. Maher’s presentation will
include an overview of antitrust law with a focus
on bid rigging, price fixing, and market allocation
schemes. Real-world examples of Antitrust Division
investigations and prosecutions will be provided.
Ms. Maher’s presentation will include suggestions
for identifying conduct and statements that indicate
possible collusive activity in an industry, with a
focus on identifying suspicious bid patterns, possible
price-fixing patterns, and possible allocation scheme
patterns.
Speaker Biography:
Lidia Maher is a Trial Attorney in the San Francisco
field office of the United States Department of Justice,
Antitrust Division. Ms. Maher's work at the Division
largely involves the investigation and prosecution
of criminal violations of the United States Antitrust
laws with an emphasis on the prosecution of international
cartel activity. Prior to joining the Department of
Justice, Ms. Maher was a law clerk to United States
District Judge Frank C. Damrell, Jr. in the Eastern
District of California.
Ms. Maher earned her J.D. from the University of
California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall)
in 2002, where she was an articles editor for the
California Law Review. She received her A.B. from
the University of Michigan in 1997. Ms. Maher is a
member of the California State Bar.
