The Team Approach to Cost
Savings
- Purchasing's Role in Continuous Improvement
Projects -
Speakers:
Tom Thursby, Director of Corporate Procurement
Jerry Wright,
Director of Corporate QA and Operational Excellence
At DJO, Corporate Purchasing is the
key driver in identification of cost savings projects
for the company. While Purchasing is able to carry
out a portion of the projects independently, e.g.
price negotiations, finding alternate suppliers, competitive
bids, etc., most projects are completed by a cross-functional
team. The Continuous Improvement Projects or CIP team
at DJO consists of Purchasing, Quality Assurance,
Manufacturing Engineering, R&D and Operations.
Over the past 7 years, DJO has driven more than $25
million in CIP projects. A description of the process,
the results and lessons learned will be shared during
the presentation.
