Supply Chain Agent

Responsibilities The Supply Chain Agent is responsible for purchasing materials, including raw materials, components, sub-assemblies and equipment, plus non-recurring and recurring services for ViaSat in compliance with Purchasing Procedures. Incumbent will work in an Operations team environment, requiring regular interaction with program management, planning, quality, materials management, transportation/logistics and engineering personnel to complete assigned supply chain tasking. The Supply Chain Agent will also be responsible for key Supplier Relationship Management, focused on Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) suppliers. This includes preparation of Requests for Quotation, negotiation of agreements, maintenance of existing orders and establishing long term relationships with suppliers to support various program and product requirements. Procurements must be documented and authorized per ViaSat Purchasing Procedures.
Requirements Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience in a similar position including specific outsourcing electronics products at EMS suppliers is required. Procurement and documentation experience buying for Defense, Government Agency, or Municipality requirements is strongly preferred. Advanced computer proficiencies that include: spreadsheet, word processing, and electronic purchasing systems (ERP) is required. Excellent knowledge of sourcing strategies with EMS suppliers, manufacturing and planning processes. Strong knowledge of Legal Contracts, the Uniform Commercial Code and INCOTERMS. Exceptional knowledge of common purchasing policies, practices, and systems. General knowledge of electronics leading industry practices, plus sourcing global economics and trends in the world trade. US Citizenship is required for this position. Travel up to 25% can be expected.

Additional Requirements:
Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) certification is strongly recommended. If the candidate is not C.P.M. certified, then documented on-going independent efforts to obtain C.P.M. status is required and is to be completed within six months of hire.
