Overview |
Ardea Biosciences
is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization
of novel treatments for HIV, cancer and inflammatory
diseases. We currently have a position open for
a part-time Purchasing Associate.
Summary: The overall responsibility for this position
is to procure lab supplies and consumables to support
the research, development and administrative operations.
In keeping with Company policies and procedures,
and maintaining compliance with all cGMP requirements,
purchasing activities will include in the sourcing
and selection of suppliers, maintaining purchasing
specifications, leveraging quantity buys and cost-effective
purchasing practices.

| Responsibilities |
- Assists in developing purchasing processes,
liaises with Finance and Accounting regarding
eRequester application, procedures, training,
authorization and general policies with respect
to the purchasing function.
- Researches and sources vendors based upon such
criteria as pricing, cost-effectiveness, and availability
of material.
- Identifies and resolves all purchasing issues
and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Administers eRequester application, ensuring
purchase order requests are handled, approved
and issued in a timely fashion.
- Ensures on-time delivery of materials and supplies.
- Processes returns.
- Establishes and maintains vendor relationships.
- Negotiates competitive pricing and vendor contracts.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to
determine present and future material availability.
- Reviews purchase orders and contracts for conformance
to Company policy.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Please note that this is a very “hands-on”
position. Occasional assistance and guidance may
be provided by HR consultants or other outside
service providers.
- Carries out job responsibilities and assignments
safely and maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Other duties as may be necessary.

| Requirements |
- Bachelor’s (BA) in a Life Science or
related discipline.
- At least two to five years’ experience
in above responsibilities of procurement or materials
management within a biopharmaceutical environment.
- Familiarity with quality standards, supplier
management policies and cGMP/cGLP standards.
- Must have ability to listen, communicate effectively
(both orally and in writing) and to interact with
all levels within the organization. Excellent
reasoning, interpersonal and organizational skills,
and superior attention to detail.
- Extensive skills, knowledge and abilities with
computers and software programs including Word,
Excel, and electronic purchasing applications
or databases.
- High attention to detail, excellent written
and oral communication skills, and the ability
to work in a fast-paced and team environment.
