Overview |
Position Title:
Strategic Sourcing Manager
Department: Indirect Procurement
Reports To: Vice President, Indirect Procurement
Position Purpose:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead sourcing
initiatives for specific areas or specific categories.
This position will be responsible for delivering
category management activities to include strategic
sourcing, client stakeholder management, supplier
performance management, supply market monitoring,
continuous improvement and ongoing cost reductions,
supplier review and issue resolution.

| Responsibilities |
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own, develop, manage and executive programs
for all assigned commodities. Prepare strategic
plans and manage the planning of RFIs and RFPs
as contracts expire. Competitively bid and negotiate
purchase requests to reduce overall acquisition
costs. Prepare purchase orders and contracts in
accordance with the approved policies and procedures,
ensuring that such commitments are within budget.
- Work collaboratively with internal clients
and suppliers to quantify requirements, timing
and scope to fully manage supply chains in assigned
categories.
- Evaluate suppliers based on qualitative and
quantitative data gathered regarding performance,
quality, competitive pricing and service level
metrics and review this data with the suppliers,
establishing goals.
- Investigate, analyze, and forecast developments
in the industries of assigned categories of materials
as to market conditions, price trends, new products,
production methods and processes. Build expertise
on the commodities assigned and the operations
of the suppliers.
- Prepare financial analysis for assigned commodities
and for special projects and develop cost reduction
plans which include scope, timing and responsible
parties by task.
- Maintain visibility into business partners’
needs. Lead, guide and manage internal clients
with regard to details on specifications, service
level agreements (SLAs,) Statement of Work (SOW,)
deliveries and costs. Challenge business partners
to consider additional cost effective strategies.
- Perform fact-based analysis to allow for objective
decision making, including total cost of ownership
(TCO) opportunities.
- Establish savings and process re-engineering
goals and drive implementation.
- Lead competitive bid process, negotiation strategy
development and conduct negotiations with suppliers.
- Negotiate contract terms for master agreements,
schedules and amendments in conjunction with legal
and business partners.
- Create secondary supply strategies for critical
products and services and lead identification
and development of long term alternate sources.
- Oversee the supplier qualification process.
Lead supplier on-barding activities, training
and coordination for all new suppliers.
- Manage value-engineering changes with supplier,
communicating timelines and obsolescence costs
to business partners to facilitate decision making.

| Requirements |
This position requires the
following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply
Chain, or Procurement. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5 to 8 years of procurement and supplier management
experience and demonstrated track record in successfully
developing, negotiating and managing multimillion
dollar complex contracts.
- Equivalent combination of experience, training
and education may be considered.
- Experience developing moderately complex cost
and financial models with financial accounting.
- Strong drive for continuous process and productivity
improvement with experience in six sigma and lean
initiatives.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop
successful relationships with internal and external
customers.
- Excellent communications skills with the proven
ability to lead, influence and motivate others.
