Overview |
Our Client, a next
generation signal processing company whose techniques
enable communications connectivity, is searching
for a high energy individual who enjoys working
in a small business environment in the high tech
industry. This position will lead overall mechanical
design and oversee build and test of small, lightweight,
rugged portable communications equipment for military
and commercial industrial applications. Responsible
for rapidly and creatively conceptualizing product
designs to meet demanding customer and marketing-driven
requirements; for analyzing mechanical and electrical
design constraints to meet key technical requirements
and reduce overall design risk; and for leading
mechanical design, build and test efforts to successfully
execute all phases of product development including
requirements definition, detailed product design,
component selection, environmental analysis, design
verification testing, etc. Responsible to support
new technology R&D efforts and continuous process
improvement for products.

| Responsibilities |
- Lead mechanical design efforts in the development
of ruggedized tactical communications equipment.
Strong knowledge and experience designing small,
lightweight, rugged electronics packaging for
portable handheld products. Creative innovator
with the ability to think "out-of-the-box".
- Ability to lead a mechanical design project
team from initial product conceptualization to
production release with minimal supervision.
- Capable of working in fast paced environment
completing tasks in a quality and timely manner
with minimal supervision. Effectively support
management, electronics design team and customer
requirements communicating status, issues, needs
and ideas.
- Develop creative ideas/products to meet product
requirements and resolve technical problems; Develop
detailed design specifications and test plans;
Implement design ideas into products using the
latest materials, processes and manufacturing
techniques in order to satisfy product requirements
including program/product costs and schedule requirements.
- Ability to analyze a design to meet technical
requirements and effectively troubleshoot problems
(define problem, collect data/facts, and draw
conclusions), and implement solutions.
- Strong knowledge in the design of plastic and
custom aluminum parts, coatings and experience
designing products for medium volume manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and
written and comfortable presenting design concepts
in small and large forums.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple
tasks and projects to successful completion.

| Requirements |
- BSMS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Eight years of mechanical design experience
of military/industrial handheld communication
products.
- Proficient in the use of Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks
CAD/CAE tools including Intralink (most recent
experience must be less than 2 years).
- Experience in the use of engineering analysis
tools, preferably, Pro/Mechanica and CFDesign.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools, such
as, Excel, Word, Visio and Project.
- Experience and/or strong knowledge of industry/DoD
standards and practices (MIL-STD, ASTM, ANSI,
MSHA, etc.).
