| Responsibilities |
As Purchasing Supervisor, you
will be responsible for providing team leadership
to the plant buying team to assure continuity of supply,
continued growth and maximum profitability. This person
will also be responsible for executing the buying
and planning functions according to the forecasted
demand of key customer programs. The ideal candidate
will have expertise in global buying/purchasing including
strategic planning, expediting, inventory control,
cost management, quality control and lean supply chain.
This position reports to the Corporate Purchasing
Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and supervise a plant buying team
leveraging best practices that will achieve organizational
goals by managing and optimizing supplier performance.
- Execute day-to-day buying requirements to support
manufacturing and NPI operations while maintaining
desired levels of inventory and minimizing costs.
- Ability to provide team leadership, guidance
and mentoring to buyers as needed.
- Interview, hire and train buyers as necessary.
- Develop and recommend organizational buying
strategies to ensure operational efficiencies
and increased customer service levels.
- Resolve systemic purchasing issues affecting
order management and supply chain performance.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors
or prospective vendors in order to enhance the
performance and reputation of the company and
to identify new sources of supply for purchased
materials.
- Purchase materials at the best price from reliable
sources, consistent with established standards
for quality, quantity, and other factory requirements
of the business.
- Negotiate with and influence suppliers to improve
timeliness of delivery, lead times, pricing, terms
and service to ensure leanest total cost of ownership.
- Advise commodity management of all potential
price changes.
- Investigate and gather quotations from suppliers
on substitute materials and communicate to commodity
management and value engineering teams as necessary.
- Assist with resolution of match and hold reports
to resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies.
- Collect, analyze and recommend solutions to
quality problems on purchased materials.
- Facilitate alignment with sales on forecasts
to better predict demand.
- Contribute to the measurement and reporting
of vendor performance.
- Support commodity team with contract negotiation,
cost reduction, lead time reduction and supplier
consolidation projects as necessary.
- Perform special projects and other duties as
assigned.
- Demonstrate competency in decision-making, flexibility,
planning and organizing, self-initiative and interpersonal
skills.

| Requirements |
- 4 year degree strongly preferred (supply chain
management, business or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of buying experience in a manufacturing
environment.
- Some buying supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven experience managing suppliers, reducing
costs, controlling inventory and standardizing
supply chain policies and procedures.
- JD Edwards or similar ERP systems experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast paced
dynamic environment.
- Ability to solve problems, be creative, multi-task
and be a hands-on leader.
- LEAN supply chain experience strongly preferred.
